Flagship is kicking off its second Send Love to Seniors campaign by partnering with senior centers in the local communities of our service centers to spread some kindness this Valentine’s Day!
Associates are invited to select which senior center they’d like to mail a card (or cards) to, get creative, then send them on their way. The company is supporting Brandywine Hall located in West Chester, PA; The Avenues of Park Forest located in Dallas, TX; and The Terraces of Phoenix located in Phoenix, AZ.
According to a report by the Pew Research Center, about 12 million Americans over the age of 65 live alone. It goes on to state that older people are more likely to live alone in the U.S. than anywhere else in the world. With COVID-19 continuing to impact those living in senior centers, Flagship’s Volunteer Initiative Committee saw this campaign as a perfect opportunity to alleviate some of the loneliness the elderly may be experiencing during this time.
To honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s legacy, associates are being encouraged to perform acts of service in the community and participate in volunteer work where and how they can. Currently, Flagship is allowing associates to utilize their VTO time in ways they are most comfortable with, including through virtual volunteer opportunities. Whether that’s creating cards with loved ones at home, building a little free pantry or library for a front yard, or donating blood to the American Red Cross, there are endless ways to give back to the local community and brighten someone’s day.
